What to look when comparing a Pit Boss vs Traeger Wood Pellet Grills:

For as long as I remember, people have always compared the two. As they say, “the battle” between the Pit Boss and Traeger continues.

And that is why we wanted to finally straighten this issue out and find out once and for all, what are the differences from Pit Boss to Traeger, which one is the better one and for whom?

Here are the things that you should check consider before choosing your side:

Construction and grill design

After putting both brands to extensive testing, and reading through thousands of Traeger and Pit Boss reviews, we have come to the conclusion that Traeger has a more durable and heavy-duty construction.

Traeger is known to be designed with a non-stick non-toxic and clear-porcelain-coated grates, which allow for a trouble-free and easy grilling for longer.

As for the Pit Boss tests proven that the grills, although heavy-duty and porcelain-coated, were more sticky and the coating was wearing out faster.

Temperature control and management

When we looked at the temperature controllers, both brands came in very close. Although Traeger uses the Integrated Digital Controller and the Pit Boss has a Digital Control Burner, both virtually do the same thing.

The only difference between the two is that the Traeger can get up to 400 degrees F and the Pit Boss can go a bit higher, all the way to 500 degrees F.

As for the reviews, Pit Boss came in as a winner in a category of “Hard to control the heat”, which, of course, means that Pit Boss came in the second place.

Cooking surface

When you examine the brands, both have a large variety of sizes (when it comes to square inches) and both offer an additional cooking space in the side firebox.

Both brands keep making bigger and better designs, however, when compared similar size grillers, Traeger came first with the quality of the finish every time.

Size of the hopper

Bigger size hopper ultimately determines the longevity of smoking and more even result in cooking food.

Once again some of the Traeger models come with a larger capacity hopper. These can contain up to 18 lbs of wood pellets in comparison to Pit Boss’s largest capacity of 14 lbs.

Price of Traeger vs Pit Boss

When it comes to the price, Pit Boss is known to be a more affordable choice. This, of course, is a good thing, but you get what you pay for.

When we compared similarly priced grillers, Traeger came first with the quality once again!

And The Winner Is:
